rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is the 3rd of Steve Berry’s books that I’ve read and it continues the same trend that I’ve found with his books, especially the Cotton Malone series. That is to say where Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon novels give you a taste of historical conspiracies, yet leave you wondering at the end if what is hypothesized is true, Steve Berry hits you over the head with it and leaves you dazed and sometimes confused.

That said, it’s still a decent read. It wasn’t the most enjoyable of his books that I’ve read, but it still kept me involved (for the most part) in the storyline. If you’re a fan of Dan Brown, you’ll likely enjoy Steve Berry.

Glen Cook does a great job with the continuing stories of the Black Company. The only thing that seems odd about this Omnibus is the 3rd book “The Silver Spike”. While a decent book on its own, it seems fairly out of place with the other 2 books (the first two books follow Croaker and the Lady into the South, while the third book follows Darling, Silent, Razor and the others than didn’t leave with Croaker).

All 3 books are enjoyable, and typical non-stop Glen Cook action the entire way. A great read for any Fantasy Fan.

Jennifer and I attended the second annual Compu-SOLVE Staff Golf Tournament on Saturday. It turned out to be a lot of fun and we both had a good time (despite our poor golf skills).

Those in attendance were broken into teams of 4. We ended up golfing with 3 since Jolene didn’t show up, so it ended up being just Ryan, Jennifer and I.

<wpg2id>6920</wpg2id>

Poor Ryan ended up playing with a nasty slice, and 1 out of 3 shots went straight right instead of forward. I think at one point, Jennifer was standing to the right to catch the ball and throw it back to him so he could have another go at it (oh wait, was that supposed to be a secret? )

<wpg2id>6908</wpg2id>

Jennifer, even being more of a golf rookie than I am, picked the sport up quickly and was carrying us by the end of it. Though I think she went through a number of balls as well

Me on the other hand, I starting driving decently by the end of it (at least the ball was going a long way and in the direction I wanted it to go… which I think is a good start anyway). I do think I need to practice more though, my form is absolutely horrible (as you’ll see from the picture below). Maybe once Jennifer is finished with her baseball, we can take up casual golfing and I can work on my lousy form.
