Gruber’s point is quite poignant, both Google and Apple are approaching the cloud in similar but different ways. Google is approaching it as software running in a web browser, Apple is approaching it as a native app. Personally I think the ideal situation is a fusion between the two.
This is a fundamentally different vision for the coming decade than Google’s. In both >cases, your data is in the cloud, and you can access it from anywhere with a network >connection. But Google’s vision is about software you run in a web browser. Apple’s is >about native apps you run on devices. Apple is as committed to native apps — on the >desktop, tablet, and handheld — as it has ever been.
This is an interesting point. Why wouldn’t competitors use a different name for their tablet products rather than piggy backing on Apple’s iPad name? It would seem logical to try and take the “name” of the tablet industry away from “Pad” to something that they could control. Interesting indeed.
I reiterate…. LEECHES!
I love The Oatmeal, but this is so true and unfortunately happens so bloody much.
Since when does Apple pre-announce what will be discussed at the Keynote? Very strange.
